Visiting Kibwezi
In Masongaleni, just outside Kibwezi in eastern Kenya, Better Globe’s test farm is located. Better Globe’s forest master Jan Vandenabeele owns the farm, and we have an agreement in place to use the land for tests and training.
The climate here is even drier than in Kiambere, which makes this place perfect for trying out how little water a tree needs to stay alive. In addition to Neem and Mukau trees of various ages, they have also planted 7,5 hectares of mango trees that produce about 50 tonnes of mango every year. The farm has also several different ponds, and advanced irrigation systems. Cactus is also grown here, from which they produce animal feed during the driest part of the year.
